MEALS: B: own, L: own, D: welcome dinner
Coron Town: 11.998841, 120.204172
Gear & kayaks preparations, briefing.
Paddle distance: 6k
Coron Town is the main commercial municipality in the island of Busuanga. Bustling with economic activity during the day and coming to life in the evening with its several options of walkable restos and cafés. The town will be our base for the next 2 evenings as we paddle across to the surrounding islands of the town during daytime. We will meet each other for a welcome dinner on the evening of your arrival. You can take the time to walk around this small town before our meet-up.
DAY 02 – EASTERN COAST OF CORON ISLAND
ACCOMMODATION: êêê Resort (Coron Town)
MEALS: B: provided, L: provided (on trail), D: own
Kayakasia Coron Station: 11.994922, 120.232729
Paddle distance: 18k
There is Coron town, and then there is Coron Island. A transport will pick you up with you on your kayaking clothes already at 0745AM after breakfast to take you to a 15-minute transfer to the launch point. We will paddle across Coron Island, a magnificent karst island 2KMs from Coron town. The eastern coastline of Coron Island is less trafficked by tourists. We will see more of the native Tagbanua inhabitants for this where their old villages were founded. This island is sacred to them, and they prohibit visitation to the central parts of the island. Our private freshly cooked lunch will be set in one of the many pocket beaches along the way. We will explore as far of the coastline and will be ferried back by a banca to end our first day.
DAY 03 – CORON ISLAND N. TRAIL
ACCOMMODATION: (3 star) Island Resort
MEALS: B: provided, L: provided (on trail), D: own
Paddle distance: 12k
We momentarily check out of Coron Town and meet up after breakfast with your luggage by the front desk. Today we will paddle the northern coastline of Coron Island starting from the same launching point. Numerous lagoons, islets, and lakes are spread across this karstic trail as we weave our way to these secret spots that kayaks can go. There will be opportunities to snorkel and chill on chosen beaches aside from finding our lunch. We will paddle to your island accommodation for the night.
DAY 04 – WEST CORON ISLAND TRAIL
ACCOMMODATION: (3 star) Island Resort
MEALS: B: provided, L: provided (on trail), D: own
Paddle distance: 16k
Across from where we stayed last night is one of the famous lakes in Coron Island. It is often busy during the daytime with people lining up to take a dip or to even just glimpse for a photo. This is an optional early morning 2.5KMs paddle across that will grant us exclusivity to one of the lakes before the crowds. After breakfast, we will paddle towards the western coastline of Coron Island. It is the quieter corner of the island with only a few families living along some of the stretches of beach in this paradise. Mostly deserted with reefs worth swimming into. We will end this trip with a boat ride back to our island accommodation.
DAY 05 – SANGAT
ACCOMMODATION: (3 star) Island Resort
MEALS: B: provided, L: provided (on trail), D: provided
Paddle distance: 16k
We will be heading west after checking out from our island accommodation today. A slight change on our horizon as rolling hills start to dominate the seascape. The islands here are surrounded by a teeming tropical reef and sometimes a WWII wreck in between, one of which is shallow enough to see with just a mask and a fin. We will reach our night’s accommodation with our kayaks. Another island 2KMs south of Busuanga, a lushly forested imposing island surrounded by the hillsides of the mainland.
DAY 06 – CORALLINE ISLANDS
ACCOMMODATION: (1 star) Island Cottages
MEALS: B: provided, L: provided (on trail), D: provided
Paddle distance: 17k
The story goes that in September 1944 a Japanese fleet of gunboats and supply vessels camouflaged themselves to look like tiny islets in between the low-lying coralline islands of Busuanga and Culion to avoid detection by allied recon planes. These were once heavily forested islands, with a mixed shoreline of rocky outcrops, mangroves, and sand seemed a perfect hideaway in a very strategic location. We will paddle this maze of islands and reefs until we reach our destination. This is our second to the last night of the trip and we will be spending it on a white sandy beach, embraced by palms, blanketed by the stars in vernacular huts or tents should you prefer.
DAY 07 – CORON
ACCOMMODATION: (3 star) Resort (Coron Town)
MEALS: B: provided, L: provided (on trail), D: own
Paddle distance: 8k
20KM boat transfer back to town
Our last few hours of exploration before heading back to town. We will paddle only until we find our lunch boat that will take us home for the day. You will be free late in the afternoon to walk around the cafés and restos in Coron Town once again.
